Chandra Shorter

Chandra is thrilled to be participating in her second show with Summer Musical Enterprise. Her previous performance experiences include Ma Moss (The Tenderland), Meredith Parker (Bat Boy the Musical), Amy/Older Woman (Putting it Together) and Silly Girl (Beauty and the Beast). When she isn’t on stage, Chandra’s “professional role” is as a children’s therapist for a local non-profit agency. Her hobbies include reading as many books as she can get her hands on, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two fur-babies.

Martin Honaker

Martin Honaker is a rising 2nd grader at Price’s Fork Elementary. This is his SME debut. Martin also participates in Blacksburg United Methodist’s children’s choirs and Music Makers at the Keyboard. When not singing and dancing with SME, he enjoys playing outside, especially soccer and baseball. “Thank you Gretchen and Jacob for supporting me at school and at rehearsal.”

Jacob Honaker

Jacob Honaker is a rising 5th grader Price’s Fork Puma. His theatre experience began with New River Stage in Grizzelda and the Grimmers, and he was also in SME’s The Music Man. Jacob’s other musical endeavors have included BUMC’s handbell, Angel, and Chorister choirs, VT String Project, and Music Makers at the Keyboard. “Thank you Mom, Dad, Gretchen, and Martin for always supporting me.”

Gretchen Honaker

Gretchen Honaker is a rising Blacksburg 6th grader. Her theatre experience began with SME’s Peter Pan. Other SME appearances include Shrek, The Musical and The Music Man. Gretchen enjoys participating in the Blacksburg United Methodist Chorister and handbell choirs and playing piano and soccer. “Thanks to God, my family, and my pets for your love.”

Eliza Hong

Eliza Hong (ensemble) is extremely excited to be part of her first SME show. Her most recent acting experience includes playing the roles of Hermes, Hunger, and Midas’ daughter from the play Metamorphoses at Mary Baldwin College, and taking part in the 24-hour theatre challenge at VT. She has taken classes from New River Stage with several of her cast members and has been acting on and off for more than half her life. She is a student at Virginia Tech studying Industrial Design and Philosophy.

Brent Viers

Brent Viers is happy to have a summer with his sister Dawn and niece Brynn that doesn’t involve long car trips fighting over leg space and complaining “Are We There Yet ?” the entire way”

Jon Greene

Jon is thrilled to death to be returning for his third consecutive performance with SME. He has been huge fan of musicals ever since being awestruck by productions of Pippin and A Chorus Line as a child. Jon would like to thank his friends and family, as well as the entire cast, production crew and orchestra, for their continued support and unwavering belief in the magic of
theater.

Perry Freeman

Perry Freeman is so enchanted to be performing as “Chip” in his first production that he even lost a tooth to add legitimacy to the role. He has just finished 2nd grade and is home-schooled. Perry spends most of his day outside playing in the forest with his brother and sister, where he loves climbing trees like his favorite animal: a monkey. When weather keeps him inside, he enjoys reading comic books and building Legos. He has played the cello for 3 years and enjoys busking each Christmas to raise money for those in need. His favorite kind of music is “Rock and Roll” and he wants to live in NYC when he grows up.

Laura Hole

Laura Hole is very excited to be back on stage with Summer Musical Enterprise. She was a part of SME’s Spamalot, Forbidden Broadway, and A Christmas Story and has also been featured in many of BHS’s productions, such as Into the Woods and Annie Get Your Gun. Laura is a senior at Blacksburg High School and in her free time is a competitive dancer and plays guitar. She would like to thank everyone in the cast and crew for putting up with her travels as well as her friends and family for their support.

Miranda Medrano

Miranda Medrano (Silly Girl) is excited for her first show with SME and has enjoyed getting to know cast members from the local community. Her most recent show was “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” as Marcy Park at Cornell University. She is a native of California, currently attending veterinary medical school at VT, and can’t wait to treat all beasts both big and small.
